Catalog Description:
Stories engage and motivate learners. Digital storytelling is one way for students and teachers to share their knowledge. Learn how to model being a creative communicator through the use of various free web tools that combine, publish content, and share projects. Students will engage in the writing process through simple, yet highly engaging web content. Examples of web tools such as Adobe Spark, Voicethread, Storybird, Canva, Fotor and more! This is an AWESOME way for speech and language play, sight words proficiency, practicing with narrative prompts, story starters, creative storytelling and even 2nd language acquisition techniques. This course is SIMPLE to navigate but will WOW your students! Students will determine best practices for digital storytelling projects through their engagement with course readings, their participation in in-class workshop sessions where we experiment with particular tools and publishing platforms, and their implementation of a digital storytelling project. Counts for 45 hours of CPE Credit for the Texas Deapartment of Education
