Catalog Description:

School of Rock: Mastering Teaching for Student Success is a dynamic, practice-driven course designed to equip future educators with the essential skills to thrive in today’s classrooms. Using an engaging, “rock your classroom” mindset, students will develop effective strategies for classroom management, lesson planning, academic assessment, and professional growth.

The course emphasizes “rocking” every aspect of teaching—building positive, respectful classroom environments, designing purposeful and engaging lesson plans, and implementing strategies that support strong academic outcomes. Students will explore techniques to improve grading practices, provide meaningful feedback, and use data to guide instruction.

A strong focus is placed on developing authentic relationships with students, recognizing the critical role connection plays in motivation, behavior, and learning. In addition, students will examine pathways for ongoing professional development, reflective practice, and lifelong learning as educators.

Through interactive activities, case studies, and real-world applications, students will leave the course prepared to confidently manage a classroom, foster student success, and continuously grow as effective, impactful educators

All materials will be provided by the instructor in the Canvas classroom.

Learning Management System: Internet access, connection to Canvas learning management system portal.

She believes in the power of building strong relationships with students and building a warm and welcoming classroom environment. In her free time Mercedes enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 sons. AFTER REGISTERING WITH CONNECTED CLASSROOM

Step 1: Complete the online registration with CSU-Pueblo at https://csupueblo-extendedstudies.formstack.com/forms/tep_other (no additional cost to you)

Provider is: THE CONNECTED CLASSROOM (look in the "T" alpha section)

Once you submit, you will receive an email confirming your registration. There will be a registration number in this email, and it may be helpful to document it. You need only register ONCE per course you’re taking. If you are taking multiple courses, you CAN REGISTER FOR MULTIPLE COURSES AT ONCE

Choose THE CONNECTED CLASSROOM as Provider

Step 3: Following your online registration, you can expect a follow-up email that will provide you with your PID number. You can expect this email approximately 7-10 days later. Keeping record of your PID number is encouraged. If you do not receive this contact the Extended studies office at CSU-Pueblo.

Step 4: Once your coursework is submitted to your provider and they’ve sent us your grade, we will enter it. This process can take up to 14 business days.

Step 5: A notification will NOT be sent out when your grade is transcribed, rather, you can periodically check your unofficial transcripts on your Student PAWS account to see when the grade is posted.

Step 6: To log in to your PAWS account, please see the instructions provided in the email you received with your PID number.

Step 7: Official Transcripts can also be ordered through your Student PAWS account.
