Course Description:
“Learning is a vital part of everyday life, relevant not only to formal education contexts but also to everyday work, socialization, and play.” by Constance Steinkuehler
This course examines the use of games for instructional design and learning across K-12 classrooms. Students will be exposed to contemporary learning theory, media, trends, and challenges related to designing and playing games in informal, community-based, online, blended and traditional classroom settings. Students will demonstrate their mastery of designing game-like learning experience through personal reflection( play journals) guided by theory and empirical research as well as showcase exemplary work of transforming their instruction to be a fun game-like learning experience.
