Course Description: Professional book studies are an effective and powerful form of professional development for educators. Successful and meaningful professional development is teacher-driven and timely. Book studies provide the unique opportunity for the educator to immediately apply the new learning to their unique and individual educational situations. Teacher-choice provides the extra incentive to choose a topic that is relevant and necessary to the ever-changing educational environment. Teachers are involved in multiple conversations of similar interests to engage in professional discourse across vertical and horizontal teaming in schools. This is a unique opportunity for teachers to build and share the timely and relevant knowledge base in their ever-changing dynamics of student achievement, student learning and social-emotional student needs. Coursework is specifically designed to be meaningful, convenient, and practical.
